Few whore themselves out so shamelessly to the media quite like the CHFFs. So with that said, if we had emotions, we'd admire the utter lack of shame it took for Boston-area doctor Robert Leonard to issue this release after giving Patriots star Wes Welker a weave
Leonard is, in the Boston area, the ambulance chasing lawyer of hair transplants, willing to get his name out in the public eye by any means necessary.
We're not judging, folks. Just sayin' ... and admirin', from afar.
He might invite Welker into the tanning booth for a little while, too. Call it a complete makeover.
Here's the unedited text of the release:
Cranston, Rhode Island (July 23, 2012)
– Dr. Robert Leonard, chief surgeon and founder of Leonard Hair Transplant Associates, recently performed a hair restoration procedure on New England Patriots All-Pro wide receiver Wes Welker.
“When I was considering hair transplantation I knew that I wanted to work with the best in the field and that is why I chose Dr. Robert Leonard,” Welker said. “Dr. Leonard has a tremendous reputation and his knowledge and expertise helped put my mind at ease throughout the process.”
Conducted in early July, the procedure involved transplanting follicles to an area of Welker’s scalp where his hair had started to thin. The procedure was completed in Dr Leonard’s office during a single session that lasted approximately five hours. Following the procedure, there was no visible evidence of the procedure, including bandages. Welker was immediately able to resume his regular activities, including training for the football season and even wearing a helmet.
“The result of a hair restoration procedure today is dramatically different than the result of a hair restoration surgery two decades ago,” said Dr. Robert Leonard, who has more than 25 years of experience in hair restoration. “Technology is constantly improving, and the tools we have available in my offices today allow for a thicker, fuller, more natural look than ever before.”
Welker, and patients who undergo similar hair restoration procedures, will begin to see new hair growth in as little as four months.
Later this year, Welker will begin appearing in television, radio, and print advertisements with Dr. Leonard to talk about his experience and to raise awareness about hair loss.
“50 million men and 30 million women in the United States suffer from hair loss,” said Dr. Leonard. “Many don’t realize it, are in denial or are intimidated by the idea of a procedure, but a free consultation will determine one’s degree of hair loss and allow us to begin formulating a patient-specific, medically-sound therapeutic course of action right away. Hair loss does not always require a procedure. There are also medical and non-surgical methods which prove to be extremely effective for many of my patients.”
In recent years, Dr. Leonard has also conducted hair restoration procedures on Mikey Adams, host of WEEI’s Planet Mikey Show, former professional hockey player and current WAAF personality Lyndon Byers, as well as hundreds of others.
Dr. Leonard is New England’s foremost authority on hair restoration, the national spokesman for Rogaine® and the hair loss expert for Johnson & Johnson. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the founding secretary and former president of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, where he presently sits on several committees. He is internationally respected and regularly speaks about aspects of hair loss at medical conferences around the world.
