Ashburn, VA (Sports Network) - The Washington Redskins have re-signed unrestricted free agent running back Tim Hightower.

Hightower started five games in 2011 before a torn ACL in Week 7 forced him to miss the final 11 contests of the season.

He rushed for 321 yards on 84 carries with one score. The Richmond product also had 10 receptions for 78 yards and one touchdown.

Prior to joining the Redskins in a trade, Hightower played three seasons for the Arizona Cardinals (2008-2010).

In 53 career games with Arizona and Washington, Hightower has carried the ball 523 times for 2,054 yards and 24 touchdowns. He has also caught 128 passes for 879 yards and one score.

In a corresponding roster move, the Redskins waived tight end Rob Myers.
