Ben Roethlisberger will be on the trading block this upcoming offseason—just like he was last year—according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport cautions that the offer must blow the Pittsburgh Steelers front office away. Apparently no such overture materialized last year.
Although Roethlisberger is denying it, the report also mentioned the franchise quarterback is upset with the entire direction of the team—not just offensive coordinator Todd Haley.
This revelation shouldn’t come as a surprise; the aging, salary cap-strapped Steelers haven’t adequately replaced talent lost to injury, retirement or free agency on either side of the ball.
At 31, the two-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl winner is moving well into his prime at QB and would be an improvement for quite a few franchises.
