The 12 team playoff season begins Saturday as the Wild Card Round gets underway and doesn’t end until February 3 in New Orleans where one of these teams will raise the Lombardi Trophy as the NFL Champion.

Four new teams from 2011 have made it to January football this season, the Vikings, Colts, Redskins and Seahawks. Three of those teams rode the hot hands of rookie quarterbacks to make it this far.

The question, soon to be answered, is if any of these four teams can make an impact during the playoff season or will one of the established league powers make an extended run through the postseason.

Here are your 2012 playoff teams, ranked from No. 12 to the top dog ready to take on all comers this January.

Sorry but to put a team number one that has a QB that's never won a playoff game and a team that's looked as pathetic as a team could in the playoffs the last two seasons, not happening now.

That is true about their past playoff performances but this team is better than the ones that entered the playoffs the past two seasons. Looking at 2012 I believe they are the best team in the field so yes, they are No. 1.
