Rookie running back Doug Martin (who unfortunately hates his nickname) has been getting better all season and it’s a big reason why the 6-4 Bucs are in the playoff hunt.
During Tampa’s 1-3 start Martin averaged 75 yard from scrimmage with 3.5 yards per carry. Since then, the Bucs have won five of six and Martin is averaging 169.8 yards from scrimmage with 6.0 yards per carry.
On November 4th in Oakland, Martin brought tears of sadness to fantasy opponents and tears of joy to fantasy owners with 272 total yards and four touchdowns.
Leaving paths of fire in the mulch behind him, Martin became the first player in NFL history with three touchdown runs of over 45 yards in a single game with scores of 45, 67, and 70 yards.
Tampa needed every bit of his monster performance. Oakland battled back to within 3 and had the ball with 2:42 left in the game when Carson Palmer threw an interception and Martin subsequently put the game away with a 1 yard touchdown run.
In a season full of controversy, comebacks, outstanding rookies, and heavy emotions, 2012 has already cemented so many big moments into the history books. It is tough to cover all of them so here are a few quick honorable mentions that didn't quite make the cut, but are well deserving of a spot on the list:
1. Peyton Manning leads the Bronco's in 24-point comeback win at San Diego.
2. Matt Schaub throws for 527 yards in comeback win against Jacksonville.
3. Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles makes stunning returns after ACL injuries.
With six more weeks and the playoffs still to go, I'm sure we're in for several more.

I think every game with a replacement ref should have an * next to it. Are you talking about the close field goal or certain penalty? The Ravens didn't get a complete free pass though. They had 14 penalties for 135 yards.
