There is more on the line for the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII then just winning the Lombardi Trophy. A win over Baltimore would give the 49ers the chance to launch a new dynasty and enjoy successes similar to the 49ers teams of the 1980’s and 1990’s.

I do think that San Francisco has the tools and ability to win Super Bowl XLVII and become a dominant force in the NFL for years to come.

First the 49ers have a great head coach in Jim Harbaugh.

From 2003-2010 San Francisco finished only one season with a .500 record or better, and had a combined win/loss record of 46-82 during that time. However, in his first season as head coach Harbaugh gets the team to finish with a 13-3 record and takes the team to the NFC Championship game. Then in his second season San Francisco finishes with a record of 11-4-1and are now about to play in the Super Bowl.

Second, San Francisco has a strong defense.

In 2012, San Francisco gave up the fourth fewest passing yards and rushing yards, gave up the second fewest total points, and recorded 25 takeaways. Additionally, linebacker NaVorro Bowman finished the season second in combined tackles with 149, linebacker Aldon Smith finished the season with the second most sacks with 19.5, while cornerback Carlos Rogers had three fumble recoveries taking one of those back for a touchdown.

Third, quarterback Colin Kaepernick will continue to get better.

After becoming the starting quarterback in mid-November Kaepernick threw for 1,814 yards, threw only three interceptions, and threw ten touchdowns, four of which came in a win over the New England Patriots. Additionally, Kaepernick has helped his team win two playoff games against the Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Falcons.

Kaepernick’s head coach Jim Harbaugh used to be a quarterback, will be able to mold and enhance Kaepernick’s abilities at the quarterback position, and could help Kaepernick become one of the better quarterbacks in the league.

Lastly, Kaepernick has help on offense.

Running back Frank Gore has rushed for over 1,000 yards six times in his career and has rushed for over 1,200 yards and for eight touchdowns in each of the last two seasons. Additionally, receiver Michael Crabtree is emerging as a favorite target for Kaepernick. After Kaepernick took over at quarterback, Crabtree racked up 595 receiving yards, and four touchdowns to finish the regular season, and has 176 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the postseason.

I see the 49ers winning Super Bowl XLVII and making many trips to the big game in years to come.
