Hosts Steve Bennett and Don Russ interview the biggest names in sports media and pop culture each week on Football Nation's The Sports-Casters podcast.
Their guest this week is Adam Rank of the NFL Network and NFL.com. Rank covers fantasy football for the NFL and appears on various programs for the NFL Network and blogs about fantasy football for NFL.com. Also, Rank is the co-host of the Dave Dameshek Football Program.
Rank talks with the Sports-Casters about the upcoming fantasy football playoffs, the fantasy goats that might have kept your team out of the playoffs, and the studs that might have you in a position to win a fantasy championship.
He also talks how fantasy football is similar to poker. The best player doesn't win every time and you can get your best cards on the table and still fall short.
"If you play fantasy football and you're not having fun then you shouldn't play," said Rank.
Rank also talks about splitting up "seashells," the drop off of Eric Decker, and the merits of keeper leagues.
Rank also says:
- Despite the NFL being a quarterback league, fantasy is still about running backs
- Teams that drafted QB's in the first round probably struggled
- Be careful in the playoffs when starting players who play on Thursday Night
- If you are going to go down, go down with your studs
- There needs to be a 24/7 Car Chase Network
- Rank gives some starts and sits for the first week of the playoffs
Steve and Don kick off each podcast with "3 Things" but manage to tackle so much more. In this week's segment they discuss the upcoming 14th week of NFL action, discuss the lack of quality of the BCS bowl games, and handicap the Heisman Trophy race. Steve and Don close the show with a listener email about the Super Bowl and One Last Thing.
