The NFL has suspended Sean Payton for one year stemming from the Bounty Program scandal in New Orleans.

General Manager Mickey Loomis has also been dealt an eight-game suspension, and former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has been suspended indefinitely - namely as he was said to be a ringleader in the scandal.

And assistant head coach Joe Vitt has been fined his salary for the first six weeks of the season.

The team has also been fined $500,000 and will have to give up their second-round draft pick in 2012 and 2013.

A league investigation showed that Saints players received $1,500 for a "knockout" blow and $1,000 for a "cart-off" hit, with pay increasing during the team's three playoff appearances.

Lastly of note, the NFLPA requested that 22 of the 27 players known to be involved in the bounty program not be punished for their actions. It remains to be seen if that request will be granted.

More to come as more details are disclosed.
