Scouting Notes: Born and raised in Germany but was introduced to the game at a young age so he's not the neophyte to the game that most foreign born players are, was enrolled in USA Football program at Kimball Union Academy when he moved to the U.S. as a teenager, playing defensive end and tight end... Played mostly with his hand on the ground as a defensive end at Boston College but has good movement skills and looked very natural in pass coverage drills at the combine....A bit undersized but a very good athlete who plays even faster and stronger then his measurables and tests would lead you to expect...A high motor relentless pass rusher and pursuer of the football with a tremendous burst off the football, does a real nice job of anticipating the snap and getting off the football first...Looked natural when asked to line up in a two point stance at B.C...Lacks ideal measurables but he plays longer then he measures...Plays with great leverage and very quick, skilled and active hands as a pass rusher...High energy player who gets after it every play from snap to whistle...Not only is he a high motor pass rusher, he's a skilled pass rusher as well, very active hands and an effective shoulder dip and inside counter move...Plays much stronger then he looks, gets underneath his man with great hand placement to drive much bigger and stronger offensive tackles into the quarterback, bull rushes well for a player his size and knows how to disengage and finish when he gets to the quarterback...Quick hands and quick leaping ability, gets his hands up fast to deflect passes...Very good and productive tackler for an edge player, hits and wraps consistently and racked up 67 tackles as a defensive end duiring his senior year thanks not only to his tackling ability but his high motor, pursues relentlessly and passionately on every snap and made more then his share of tackles down the field as well as from the weakside, also knows how to slide laterally down the line and sift through the garbage without losing his feet, rarely on thr ground, beats cut blocking well with great feet, agility and balance...Has a knack for sliding off blocks and making plays in the run game, was surprisingly effective making plays when the opposition ran to his side despite his size...One of those guys whose best football is ahead of him because he was miscast in his collegiate system, yet he was still highly productive in B.C.'s 4-3 scheme with 67 tackles 15 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumbles recovered...Has the skill set to be a standout in a 3-4 scheme and should be a late round steal for a team that incorporates that kind of scheme, has the high energy approach and natural athletic ability to be a special team contributor from the get-go as well as an effective situational pass rusher.
