Matt Schaub might not be made of glass after all.
Schaub and the Houston Texans defeated Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos Sunday by a score of 31-25 in Denver.
Early in the 3rd quarter, Schaub was leveled on consecutive plays by the Broncos Von Miller and Joe Mays. Both plays drew roughing the passer penalties, which ultimately led to Matt Schaub losing a piece of his ear. Schaub was taken to the locker room several plays later and underwent concussion tests. He later returned.
On the day, Matt Schaub threw for a total of 290 yards and 4 TD, while Arian Foster rushed for 105 yards on 25 carries. Kevin Walter led the team in receiving with 73 yards.
At the end of the 3rd quarter, the Texans led 31-11 and seemed to have the game wrapped up. A fumble by Ben Tate at midfield in the 4th quarter gave Manning the momentum he needed to spark a comeback that fell just short.
Manning finished the game with 330 yards passing and 2 TDs, with a majority of those yards coming in the 4th quarter.
The Texans, who led the league in points allowed at 17 through two weeks, applied constant pressure to Manning throughout the game.
Texans defensive end J.J. Watt spent a majority of the game in the Broncos backfield recording a team high 2.5 sacks.
Broncos running back Willis McGahee had no running room gaining a meager 36 yards on 12 carries. He would have to leave them game in the 3rd quarter after suffering a neck injury. His status for week 4 is unknown.
The Broncos will look to get back on track next week vs. Oakland and will hope to snap their two game losing streak. The Texans meanwhile will look to continue their dominance at home against the Titans.
