The Monday night game between the San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins features arguably the two most athletic quarterbacks in pro football.
The focus leading up to the game will be on how Robert Griffin III will handle the 49ers' awesome defensive unit which is seventh overall in the league, including 10th and 12th against the pass and run respectively.
Colin Kaepernick is expected to have a field day against the 28th ranked Washington defense, but what else will happen in this game? Here are some bold predictions.
No. 1: Kaepernick will finish with 250 passing yards and 150 rushing yards
Even though Kaepernick has been a bit disappointing this year following his breakout last season I think this week will be the return of the old Kaepernick and it will keep alive the 49ers' playoff hopes as they currently are 6-4 so far.
As I mentioned earlier the Redskins' defense isn't exactly great, so the dual threat of Kaepernick will cause them problems all day. If my prediction comes true it will be only the third time Kaepernick tops 200 passing yards this season, and it will also be a season high in rushing yards for the third-year quarterback.
No. 2: Alfred Morris will score three touchdowns
Even though the Redskins are currently 3-7 they have statistically the league's best running game, and still have an outside shot at the playoffs because the NFC East is well... the NFC East.
The man leading the ground assault for Washington is second-year running back Alfred Morris, one of my personal favorite players in the league. Morris has 918 yards this season, enough to give him third overall in the league behind only LeSean McCoy and Marshawn Lynch. Even though he is facing a tough game against the 49ers' defense I have in Morris to score a majority of his team's points.
No. 3: If the Redskins lose, someone loses their job
This isn't the sort of thing I wish to happen, but following the back and forth between coaching staff and RGIII that followed Washington's loss to the Philidelphia Eagles it is clear that tension is running high in the Redskins camp.
Especially after RGIII said that the Eagles' defense "knew what was coming," I can't imagine the Redskins dumping their future by dropping or cutting RGIII so someone else will probably take the hit.
My prediction for the final score: 41-21 to the 49ers. This game will be all Kaepernick, a welcome return to form for 49ers fans and fantasy football owners everywhere.
