The term “must-win” game gets tossed around a lot, especially at this time of year. Several teams are facing elimination this weekend, but none of those had any true playoff aspirations anyway.
It’d be nice if Tampa Bay and Jacksonville built off their inaugural 2013 wins, but we’re not looking for morale victories so scratch those bottom-feeders off the list.
It’d also be nice if Atlanta and Buffalo could stop their league-leading three-game skids, but neither is in contention for anything besides a high draft pick.
Everyone in Miami covets a victory to patch up a tattered locker room, but the Richie Incognito/Jonathan Martin debacle burrowed into the news cycle and probably won’t be brushed aside until somebody’s head rolls.
The following five teams need to win now because of the standings, who their opponent is, or both.
