The linebacker is usually the leader of the defense. The LB calls the defense and is usually the captain and the leader on and off the field. Linebackers are the quarterback of the defense.

The difference between a good linebacker and a great linebacker is night and day. Great linebackers like Lawrence Taylor and Dick Butkus single handedly wrecked games and revolutionized the linebacker position.

But finding a good linebacker takes good scouting and a little luck as with any position. Some teams hit the jackpot while others regret their choice. Here's a look back on some of the biggest regrettable choices at the LB position since 1987.

As a Seahawk fan from the beginning, I honestly can say that if Bosworth wasn't the biggest draft day bust in history he certainly was in Seattle history. I will never forget Jackson running his butt over on the Monday night game. I was at a Renton Tavern that had a nice big screen. It was completely humiliating for us.

Yet another Seahawk can't miss pick. AHHH! It became apparent after 2 years that this was not going to work out. It still doesn't top Mirer though. Nothing will.
