NFL 2013: Predicting Every Team's Record, From Worst to Best

As the regular season draws closer, fans and pundits alike are beginning to form confident opinions on how their teams, and some opposing teams, will shake out in 2013.

This column will aim to take a shot at all 32 teams. They're ranked in what would be a projected 2014 draft order, if all records were correct.

Although it's virtually a scientific impossibility to get every team's record correct, it's a worthwhile challenge, and it makes for interesting discussion fodder.

That having been said, it's time to take that leap of faith, and predict the future for every team in the NFL, as far as 2013 goes.

"The receiving corps is turning into the NFL equivalent of Final Destination." love it man.

Looks like we agree with Seattle and Denver. Assuming you think they'll face each other in XLVIII
7 months ago

it's a distinct possibility. My pick before preseason was actually Denver vs. a surprise New Orleans team, but I'm thinking Seattle is going to be a nightmare.

Bears 7-9? They are coming off10-6 when they had ZERO offense, no they have an offense and still the great defense ad thy re gong to be 3 games worse? WOW is all I can say. You can't judge a team on 30snaps of first team in 2 lousy pre-season games. Wake up folks
7 months ago

merely a prediction. I'm not married to these picks. I wish the Bears the best of luck.

Packers at 11-5? They've lost talent on offense ad do nothave a good O Line, their defense is questionable at best with only good linebacker, questionable D Line, and so-so defensive backfield.Put that with the fact they have a history of lousy run game and a rookie after 2 pre-season games means nothing. With that awful line, Rogers may not survive 8 weeks
7 months ago

Typical Bears fan... Heya.. Da Bears will go 12-4 while the Pack sucks and they get destroyed. Rodgers won't make it due to the line. Have you looked at the Bears line? Holy crap its bad. Every year I hear the same thing..

Cleveland is going to surprise you

I'm inclined to agree, but my only hold-up was the tough division. I think Norv's doing well by Weeden. If Horton toughens the defense to his liking, they'll be tough in general.

Saints defense is still going to suck but they will outscore their opponents more frequently than they did last year. 10-6 or 11-5 is reasonable with a playoff entry. When they fall, it will be up against either Seattle or San Fran. I think in a 1 game matchup they can beat anyone else in the NFC.

Clueless! Have you seen the way Chris Canty and Daryl Smith have been playing for the Ravens D, 2 guys you tottally forgot to mention by the way. Plus they get their best CB back Ladarius Webb who they didn't have when they won the Super Bowl. This Ravens Defense is younger, stronger and faster than last years. NEXT MAN UP!

can't believe you got Tampa Bay and Tennesse ahead of Dallas and the Eagles are a joke the so called dream team fell flat 2 years in a row, really the competition is Redskins & Giants
7 months ago
I agree with the Chicago record, I feel unless Cutler gets comfortable fast enough, they'll struggle a lot
7 months ago
I like how you made the magic number as ten to get in and I like how you throw Cincy as the division winners, I like that off the wall pick.

I wouldn't particularly call it 'off the wall'. They're a good team that looks poised to keep growing. They'll only surprise those who keep their eyes averted.

I think Aj Green is a top 5 at his position but I don't trust Andy Dalton in the same aspect that I don't trust Cutler. Possibly good QB that are content with playing average football with a group of weapons. and that's why it seems kind of "off the wall" to me.

The Patriots lost 1 player to jail, and had fewer arrests than many other teams. Welker-"I only drop the ball in crucial situations" took his crybaby ways to Denver. Gronk will be back and has a better side-kick now. Amendola may actually be better than Welker. They have the best O-line in football (all returning AGAIN. Beast running game. Surprise rookie receivers. And possibly even a slight improvement on defense. But nobody respects Brady and Belichick. See you in the Super Bowl.

When I did my game by game article for the Bears they ended up at 10-6 and in the playoffs. Not too thrilled with the 7-9 prediction. That defense isn't missing as much as people think. Urlacher was playing on one leg last season. Can't wait to find out for real.
Here we go agin counting the Pats out, Tom B. make Player into what they become (WR's and TE) so don't thing because Welk went to Denver that they'er the favorite to come out the AFC.

WE AGREE ON DENVER AND SWEET REVENGE FROM THAT PRE-SEASON GAME WITH THE SEAHAWKS BUT DONT SELL THE HOUSTON TEXANS SHORT THIS YEAR.
Agree with most of these. Although I think Buffalo will be a big surprise IF they can keep EJ healthy.

I like Buffalo's offense, but it all depends what Pettine does with the D. They'll improve immensely, I can agree on that.

This list looks better than other predictions I have seen so far. The only toss up is in the Top 3. I believe it will be a replay from 1996 with the Falcons against the Broncos in the Superbowl, only with a different outcome. At least, that is what I am hoping for.

The New Orleans Saints will have a 13 + record in 2013 & also will be in the Superbowl 48 in 2014. They will win it all again against peyton manning in the superbowl. On the internet they gave some of those other teams better records than what you'll predicted.

Only guy with any sense. Stinky Birds lose first game in New Orleans

Weedhead is gonna surprise you. He will fold like tent wit a little bit of pressure. the Clowns will be lucky to win 3 games if they go with Weedhead.

how many times have u seen the Seahawks in the SB? How many times have u seen Payton Mannning come thru in the clutch?
there's no way the bills will have a record like that.. They're going to surprise MANY people this year! Can't wait!!! We play the pat's 1st and last of reg season.. I think we'll smash em!
Cardinals 6 and 10. Now a pick. I have them at 5 and 11.
Denver, ie. Payton Manning is very good. Until: he gets hurt; until they have to only pass; until anything happens that disrupts Manning. Then they have nothing. Seattle Seahawks have 2nd and 3rd string quarterbacks that are almost as good as Russell Wilson. Tremendous depth. Time will tell...

Good work Justin! Predictions are often painfull but fun to do.

totally disaggre with the redskins.8-8?I'm a Ravens-Redskins fans,I admit it I like the Ravens better, but thr redskins are not making the playoffs and lower than the Ravens!?!!!!!!?I think the skins' have a chance at the super bowl.
Redskins defense will be top ten this season. Front seven are much improved with Orakpo and Kerrigan on the edges. QB's will not throw the ball all over the field when they are on their backs...lol...11-5 or 10-6...Division winner for sure.
The Eagles...too funny...The Giants are so banged up they will be lucky to go 7-9. Redskins esiy win the East...
Sorry, I didn't proof read my post. The Skins will "easily" win the East

Ok, I was thinking the 49rs would be somewhere around 11-5. But I'm thinking the defense will change that prediction to 12-4 . Seattle. While I agree with you that they are a very good team. I see them suffering from a few suspensions due to PED use. So I see them going somewhere around 10-6. Maybe 11-5. These are all merely predictions and are subject to change w/o notice. Injuries will also change things somewhat. The 49rs will make the playoffs. They will not be the wild card. The Rams will have a better year than last. I expect them to be 9-7 at the end of the regular season. Arizona. The Cardinals will also have a better year this year. I expect them to be somewhere around 7-9, possibly 8-8. Palmer and Fitzgerald is enough to give anyone hope.
I say the 49rs will do better because of a number of reasons. 1,they too have a chip on their shoulders. 2 the defense is still a very strong force to be reckoned with. Justin Smith. need I say more? But the offense, which has had some tumultuous moments this year by losing Crabtree, and Manningham out for 6 more weeks, still seems to have found some chemistry and appears to be ready to take on the NFL.
I fully expect Seattle to lose at least 2 players to the violation of drug policy regarding PED's. After last year, the NFL will be watching them closely. And I expect 2 of them to fail the tests.

I saw this article on MSN online. I think I saw it on MSN page. I have short term memory loss. I had a small stroke in January, and I guess I'm still having some issues. sorry. The article or link brought me to YardBarker, which brought me here

The Stinky Birds of Atlanta Division chumps is what they will be. the first loss of the year comes in the first game in New Orleans and after the shock sets in 9-7 will be their record out of the playoffs
7 months ago
Let's see how accurate these predictions are at the end of the season. I'm guessing not more than 15% correct.

that's why I'm going out on a limb. Sometimes it's fun to take chances :-)

Notice how there are 6 7-9 teams and 4 6-10 and 8-8 teams? That's a lot of bunching.
Raiders 4-12? Seems optimistic. I can't fathom that team sneaking a win a month with the lack of skill position talent.
