As we predicted, it was a tough week for underdogs last week with only the Giants and the Raiders pulling off upset wins. At least we had the Raiders who continued their dominance over the Steelers once again giving us a 1-2 split again, a trend that we will look to turn around this weekend. St. Louis, Dallas and Cleveland were the only other underdogs to even cover the spread last week a positive sign for all three teams who have interesting matchups this week.

If it was this tough for underdogs last week, how is this week shaping up? Well, so far, so good–the Dolphins managed to tame the Bengals in a game that saw Geno Atkins leave with a season-ending ACL injury and Andy Dalton struggle with 3 interceptions. Atkins’ injury will have huge repercussions on the Bengals’ ability to create a pass rush and is definitely a situation to keep tabs on. A difference maker at defensive end, his absence will make Cincinnati a less certain play for the rest of the year.

One underdog win is certainly an encouraging sign, so here are three more underdogs to watch for this weekend. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter @MJPennywark so you never miss a pick.
