The Kansas City Chiefs have been a fixture in professional football for the past 55 seasons. As a charter member of the AFL (1960) and an expansion team in the NFL (1970), it is one of the more storied franchises in football history.
They also have a history of making historic draft picks. The success of the team throughout its existence is more than its failure.
In recent memory, however, draft picks have proven to be less than perfect and the team has struggled from time to time.
There have, however, been picks that have panned out to be some of the great finds in the NFL.
This year, the Chiefs hold the top overall pick in next week’s Draft. Does offensive line help come their way with Luke Joeckel, the big tackle from Texas A&M, or does someone like Sharrif Floyd, an imposing defensive tackle from Florida, make his way to Missouri?
The Chiefs are a team that with the right twists and turns could make some noise this coming season or next. Based on the team’s draft history, it certainly is either hit or miss. What this team needs is more consistency and little bit of luck on its side.
