The First Football Nation Writer Awards
There is one group to thank: Our growing army of writers. They are the lifeblood of Football Nation, the citizen soldiers who carried FN’s Old Glory of the gridiron onto the sports-media battlefield. Put most simply, Football Nation’s victories during its debut season would not be possible without them.
Football Nation began with a clean slate in June. Today, the FN team is now more than 1,000 contributors strong – growing each day – and they have already published more than 4,000 articles.
With our very first campaign now in the rear view mirror, it’s the perfect time to hand out battle stars to our top performers – those writers who went above and beyond the call of duty, helped establish FN as a budding superpower and began to earn recognition for themselves beyond the pages of FN.
These awards will become an annual event. Consider them tokens of appreciation from a grateful Football Nation.
THE FIRST FOOTBALL NATION WRITER AWARDS
FN Writer Of The Year– $500
His Captain Comeback column was one of the most widely read columns in the FN portfolio, Kacsmar himself was our most-read contributor, and his work was widely quoted in major media around the country, from ESPN to numerous newspapers, websites and chat boards. He was also contacted by NFL Network late in the season to help with one of its research projects and wowed them with his professionalism.
Kacsmar drove his own success, with great research and writing, prolific posts on Twitter and his own outreach to the sports media. He earned 74 Game Balls during the season and along the way become the first Football Nation writer to be paid for his work. He used FN to continue to establish his voice in the sports media and is a great example of the power of the growing Football Nation platform.
FN Column Of The Year– $250
“Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups” by Jared Dang
