Montee Ball was a touchdown machine at Wisconsin and the Denver Broncos are hoping he does the same for them.
With the recent release of Willis McGahee, Ball is really the only "bigger" back on the Broncos' roster.
Knowshon Moreno and Ronnie Hillman are more outside-the-tackle runners. Ball will be the short-yardage back and possibly the starter by the end of the year.
Ball, who had 77 touchdowns in his four years as a Badger, will be a great pick up as a secondary back in fantasy.
He may not have as many yards as most featured backs but he will score touchdowns and that's what the fantasy players are looking for.
The only problem with Ball could be the amount of touches he gets. Even without McGahee, the Broncos have plenty of options at running back and an offense that most relies on the arm of star quarterback Peyton Manning.
Manning is also known to throw the ball when the team is on the 1-yard line which could affect Ball's touchdown numbers.
Either way Ball would be a good second running back on a fantasy team. He won't be able to carry the load for a fantasy team but will give you touchdowns. He is perfect for a late round pick to complement your main back. He could be a good starter when that main back in on the bye week.
Ball may not be the starter at the beginning of the season but he will see the ball a lot due to the fact he is one of John Elway's draft picks and the boss likes his guys to play. The results may not be immediate but in the long run Ball would be a good pick.
