Fantasy Football is back and leagues are starting to draft there teams. In looking at draft strategies this year, the quarterback position is deeper than normal.
I think there are a lot of quarterbacks that can get you solid points later on in you draft. In recent years, quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees would go in the 1st round because of their inflated passing yards and touchdowns.
I think some of the younger quarterbacks are starting to get points on the ground. There are the dual-threat quarterbacks like RGIII, Cam Newton, Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick and we’ll say Michael Vick even thou he is not young any more but can still get some yards.
With getting a point every ten yards compared to a point every 25 passing, they can rack up some points a little quicker. RGIII averaged over 50 rushing yards a game last year which is almost equal to throwing a touchdown. You also have to look at the running touchdowns and add those with the running yards that get you closer to the quarterbacks that just throw.
I’m not saying to go out and draft a dual-threat quarterback; I just think that with these quarterbacks that can get yards on the ground make the pool to pick from that much deeper.
In the past if you didn’t get one of the top 5 or 6 quarterbacks that you might be in trouble but I think now every team in a 12-team league should have a quality guy to get them points. So maybe you can wait on QB and get that stud RB or WR in the first and second instead.
