The following information comes from the NFL.

The Dallas Cowboys remain the NFL's best team on opening day, powered largely by a record streak of 17 straight Week 1 wins from 1965 to 1981.

Dallas has gone an impressive 35-17-1 (.673) out of the gate, dating back to the franchise's founding in 1960. Tony Romo's recent vintage Cowboys are 4-2 in Week 1 games in which the productive but controversial quarterback has started.

The Denver Broncos are the best of the AFC, with a Week 1 record of 33-19-1.

The NFC in general struggles in Week 1, as six of the seven worst teams in Week 1 come out of the NFL's senior circuit: Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers.

The sad-sack Buffalo Bills are the worst of the AFC in Week 1 action, with a record of 21-32 (.396).
