The life of a professional football player is a glamorous one indeed.

The millions of dollars, endorsements & name recognition, just to name a few. One honor NFL players should be leery of is landing the Madden cover.

Although EA's second-best selling sports series (FIFA) has been a staple of the gaming community for almost 25 years, the game itself has been associated with shortening seasons and careers of the players who are selected for the cover.

Legendary Oakland Raiders coach John Madden was placed on the cover of Madden from its inaugural season in 1988 up until 1998. Since then, 17 players have graced the cover and the aftermath hasn't been pretty.

However, after Calvin Johnson's (the Madden NFL 13 cover boy) record-breaking season we have to reexamine the effect of the "Madden Curse".

With voting for Madden 25 (replacing Madden 14 with the 25th anniversary of Madden) well underway, let's take a look at each player's season after they appeared on the cover of Madden & look ahead to future cover stars.
