It's a little crazy here around the Cold, Hard Football Facts world headquarters in Quincy, Mass.
Watertown is the other side of Boston, about 10 miles away. But everyone in the region has been texting, Tweeting, Facebooking, calling all night, as folks are everywhere I guess. All kinds of stuff breaking:
Football Nation compadre Todd DeVries texted me at 4:13 a.m. to see how everyone is doing. Didn't know it had been such a crazy night. He was up all night: Cops shot. One dead. Guns. Bombs. Car jacking. Robbery. Chaos.
Immediately downloaded police scanner app on iPhone. Wife takes the subway to work, but that's shut down. All public transportation in Boston shut down. Schools closed.
The terrorists are apparently from Chechnya, the hotbed of Islamic extremism Russia has been fighting for years. All kinds of news popping. Apparently, the surviving brother Dzhokhar Tsarnaev went to Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School, right near Harvard University. He wrestled, received a $2,500 scholarship from the city and was even registered to vote.
Different stories are circulating about how long they've been here, from a year to 10 years.
Been tough anyway to work all week. This is total insanity. We do have tons of draft stuff ready to roll, and a great look at the late Pat Summerall, who passed this week. Just been chaoctic.
In meantime, the top and bottom photos were posted by @shawna_england to Twitter this morning, from outside the window of her Watertown home. Wow! Crazy, folks.
