Ohio State

To say this college football season has been exciting would be an understatement. We have seen the unbeatens go down, one by one, and as Les Miles would say, we have seen dreams die. With Rivalry Week here, the BCS Race is starting to heat up. Many teams are still holding onto the hope of going to the National Championship Game. We have a scenario for every team still in the hunt.

If the season ended right now, this is what the BCS picture would look like:

BCS National Championship: Alabama vs Florida State
Allstate Sugar Bowl: Auburn vs UCF
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State vs Wisconsin
Rose Bowl: Ohio State vs Stanford
Discover Orange Bowl: Clemson vs Northern Illinois

Here is the current BCS Top 10, as follows:
1. Alabama
2. Florida State
3. Ohio State
4. Auburn
5. Missouri
6. Clemson
7. Oklahoma State
8. Stanford
9. Baylor
10. South Carolina

There is a scenario to get to the Title Game for most of the Top 10's.

Alabama
1) Win out

Florida State
1) Win out

Ohio State
1) Win out
2) Have Alabama lose one game or Ohio State lose one game

Auburn
1) Beat Alabama, then win SEC Championship
2) Have Florida State or Ohio State lose one game

Missouri
1) Beat Texas A&M, then beat Alabama/Auburn in SEC Championship Game
2) Have Ohio State or Florida State lose one game

Now this is when it starts to get tricky:

Clemson
1) Beat South Carolina
2) Alabama beats Auburn
3) Missouri loses one game
4) Florida State loses one game
5) Ohio State loses one game
6) Oklahoma State loses one game

Oklahoma State
1) Beat Oklahoma, win Big 12
2) Alabama beats Auburn
3) Ohio State loses one game
4) Florida State loses one game
5) Missouri loses one game
(If it came down between Oklahoma State and Clemson, Oklahoma State would have the advantage because they won their conference)

Stanford:
1) Win out
2) World completely falls apart (Not likely)

Baylor:
1) Win out
2) Florida State loses one game
3) Ohio State loses in Big 10 Championship Game
(Baylor would have the advantage over Ohio State because they won their conference. If Ohio State lost to Michigan, but then won Big 10, Ohio State would have advantage)
4) Auburn loses to Alabama
5) Mizzou loses one game
6) Oklahoma State loses to Oklahoma
(Baylor would have the advantage over Clemson because they won their conference)

As you can see, there is a chance for every team. Some have higher possibilities than others, but they all have a chance. In 2007, LSU was ranked 7th going into the last week of the regular season. They needed a TON to happen if they wanted to reach the Title Game, in fact, no body even thought about that as a possibility. There was complete chaos that week, including a 4-7 Pitt team defeating #2 West Virginia with, literally, cheating refs. Anything can happen, and that’s what makes college football so great.
