According to various reports, the Kansas City Chiefs have dealt for San Francisco 49er quarterback Alex Smith.

In return, the 49ers will reportedly receive the Chiefs' 2013 second-round pick, plus a mid-round selection in 2014.

NFL trades cannot be made official until March 12.

Smith finished the 2012 season by completing 70.2 percent of his passes for 1,737 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions in 10 games.  He eventually lost his job to Colin Kaepernick after suffering a concussion in November.

The 28-year-old Smith has thrown for 14,280 yards with 81 touchdowns and 63 interceptions in 80 career games.

We'll have more on this story soon.
