Now that the Packers have wrapped up their most valuable in-house free agent by re-signing up and coming cornerback Sam Shields to a four-year deal their attention turns to the rest of the struggling Packers' defense.

Reports a month ago stated that Ted Thompson was planning on breaking character somewhat during the 2014 offseason and dipping the Packers Green and Gold toes into the free agent market with the potential for up to five free agent signings of players outside the organization.
