Ok, this is a matchup of the number one seed in the AFC versus the number one seed in the NFC, so what’s intriguing about that? Consider in the last 10 Super Bowls that only one time did both number one seeds advance to play in that game – New Orleans versus Indianapolis – and it was one of the better matchups between the two most consistent teams in that season. Most times, there’s a major upset somewhere along the way in the playoffs, but if this matchup gets set, it would feature two teams with solid quarterbacks, good running games, quality receivers, and underrated but tough defenses. The teams have also already met in a Super Bowl back in 1998, which the Broncos won 34 to 19 in John Elway's last NFL game.

While the divisional games – San Francisco v. Green Bay and Seattle v. Atlanta for the NFC and Houston v. New England and Baltimore v. Denver – offer up some great potential games, Football Nation has asked me to look at all the potential matchups that could occur and offer up the five most intriguing battles. Without further ado, here are my thoughts.

Seattle when the Seahawks were born, thence Houston at the time of the Texans inception. A tie would work for me!
The east coast can watch hockey.
Ah, the Hawks in the Kingdome days with the Nordstroms as owners. My days as a Bronco fan date back to the early days of the Hawks, too, and I miss the old DEN - SEA matchups. I don't mind seeing new winners for the Super Bowl, but my picture should obviously let everyone know who I'm pulling for to win.
