Over the last two years Dez Bryant has cemented himself as a top 5 receiver in the NFL, and one of the best players on the Dallas Cowboys. It appears the Cowboys are planning to sign him to a long-term deal very soon, likely locking him up for the majority of his career. Most fans will be happy when this deal goes through, I am not one of them. I feel it would be in the team's best interest to trade Bryant instead. Though it would be detrimental in the short-term, the money it would save the team in not breaking the bank combined with the multiple first round picks a player of Bryant's caliber would command, make it a smart move for the future of the franchise.
