One of the most surprising performances from the Divisional Round of the playoffs came from New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen.
Vereen caught five passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns and ran the ball seven times for 44 yards and another score.
Vereen was seen by many as the "fourth" running back for the Patriots throughout the season behind Stevan Ridley, Danny Woodhead and Brandon Bolden.
However, against the Texans, he became a favorite target of Tom Brady after Rob Gronkowski re-injured his broken forearm.
Vereen's ability to catch the ball makes him a versatile piece in the Patriots' offensive scheme.
Most fans remember the names of Kyle Williams and Billy Cundiff from last year's Championship Weekend for making mistakes that cost their teams a chance to play in the Super Bowl.
Although both of these teams (San Francisco and Baltimore) will be making a return appearance to Championship Weekend this season, these two players will not have the opportunity to redeem themselves.
Whether there are young players making a name for themselves, or a veterans cementing their legacies, there will be names that will go down in history thanks to this weekend's games.
Let's take a look at the players (some stars and some unheralded heroes) who will play a big role in whether their teams are competing on Super Bowl Sunday.

I agree with you completely. I just have a feeling that Vernon Davis is going to erupt, and I had to include a member of the San Francisco defense. That's their powerhouse.
Akers has been a great pressure kicker throughout his career, but his struggles earlier in the season worry me. I think Gostkowski is the best pressure kicker remaining in the playoffs, but he has not been given many pressure kicks thanks to Tom Brady and the rest of the Patriots offense. I think Justin Tucker has already proven that he is capable of making crucial kicks, but it is tough to put full support behind a rookie kicker. None of these kickers are what I would call a liability.
